Briermere Farms, located in nearby Riverhead NY, provides fresh local fruit for our fruit share. The farm is not certified organic, however they certainly aim for as little conventional spray as possible given the wet climate of NY.  Many organic practices are integrated into the growing program and they produce their own compost as well. 

It is an 18 week share beginning July 6th and ending November 2nd.  There is the possibility that the share will begin sooner, depending on the weather and the timing of the ripening of the fruit.  We will contact you if there is any change of starting date.

WHAT IS IN THE FRUIT SHARE?

QUANTITY

Please read through the share contents below CAREFULLY so you understand what fruit CAN grow on Long Island and that week to week you will be getting similar things depending on the time of year. If you do not LOVE apples, we suggest you do not participate in the share as the last month or two is primarily filled with apples. 

JULY

The share begins with blueberries (1pint), raspberries (1/2pint),  gooseberries (1pint) or rhubarb (1 bunch)  Each week you will receive 1 of these items. 

LATE JULY AND AUGUST  

The share offers yellow, white or doughnut peaches,  and possibly some plums.  Each week you will receive three (3) lbs of peaches or plums.

SEPTEMBER

The share offers apples (in many varieties), pears and sometimes peaches.  Each week you will receive three (3) lbs of apples, pears, or peaches. 

OCTOBER 

The share offers apples in many varieties and pears in a few varieties.  Each week you will receive three (3) lbs of apples and pears in any combination.
